Reiki

Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is an oriental discipline with ties to traditional Japanese and Chinese medical theory and has been in use since its founding by Mikao Usui in Japan in 1922. Reiki is the Japanese term relating to the universal life force energy (known as Chi or Qi) that exists in all living things.

Reiki practitioners rest their hands gently on or above specific areas of the body to channel a healing energy through their palms. Treatments do not involve pressure, manipulation or massage. The energy is self-dispersing since it naturally flows into deficient areas and also assists the body in regulating its own energy.

Reflexology

Reflexology is an ancient healing art known to many cultures around the world. It is said that the hands and feet are a microcosm of the human body. In theory, if one works the different areas of the feet or hands, one is affecting the corresponding body parts, organs and glands. The art of reflexology is a method designed to bring the body back to a state of balance in a natural way, through stimulation of foot reflex points.

Feet are very sensitive. Each foot has 7200 nerve endings with extensive connections to all parts of the body. Over time, pressure on the feet cause adjustments in the nervous system which can create an imbalance in the body. Stimulating the reflex points through the simple act of touch causes the entire body to respond. Using alternating amounts of pressure activates the body's innate healing ability. Problems tend to show up in the feet first, before manifesting in the body. Working the feet through reflexology is preventive healthcare.

SESSIONS are 45 – 60 minutes in length.

Jin Shin Do

Jin Shin Do means "The Way of the Compassionate Spirit". It is a unique blend of Japanese acupressure techniques, Chinese acupuncture and acupressure theory, Taoist philosophy, Qigong(breathing and exercise techniques), Reichian segmental theory, and principles of Eriksonian psychotherapy. Jin Shin Do promotes a deep state of relaxation allowing one to move out of the head and into the body where feelings and inner wisdom are accessed.

Jin Shin Do uses gentle yet deep finger pressure on specific acupressure points and 'body focusing' techniques to help release chronic tension and balance energy (Chi) flow. Jin Shin Do is based on the theory that a life force energy flows through pathways in the body known as meridians. When these meridians are blocked then tension forms around the acupressure points.

Jin Shin Do offers an experience that facilitates feeling the bodymind connection. As pressure is gradually applied to acupressure points and held long enough, one becomes aware of physical and emotional stressors that have been generating the tension thus giving the body the ability of a deep release of this tension.

SESSIONS are 60 - 75 minutes in length

Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage, also known as Champissage, originated from Ayurveda, the ancient system of medicine which has been practiced in India for over 1,000 years. It is form of relaxation massage done over the clothing with the client in a seated position. Focus is on the face, head, neck, scalp, shoulders, upper back, and upper arms – all of which are important energy centers within the body where tension may accumulate resulting in neck and shoulder pain and/or headaches. A firm and gentle rhythm is used to release blockages and relieve the tension and pain. Specifically, Indian Head Massage helps increase joint mobility and flexibility in the neck and shoulders; improves blood circulation and lymphatic flow; frees knots of muscular tension; relaxes connective tissue; and aids in the elimination of accumulated toxins and waste products. This form of massage is very relaxing and has a balancing effect on the recipient helping them to release on all levels: physical, emotional and psychological, creating a sense of peace and well-being.

SESSIONS are 30 – 45 minutes in length.
